How does the Search bar work?

In order to find the right person to learn from or identify who already owns the skills you need to develop, you can use the search bar in your community.

In order to find the right person to learn from or identify who already owns the skills you need to develop, you can use the search bar in your community.

For example, if you enter the term “Leadership” in the search bar as a user, the search would return matching profiles of other users with that skill, who you may contact for learning, skill exchange or collaborating on a project.

Additionally, you can click on the filter icon and activate the toggle “Available only” in order to see only persons who are available for booking a session with them. There you can also find other filters that will make your search more efficient.

In our private beta mode, when you write a search query, the search engine would also search for text similarities and for similarities in the meaning of any text on the platform across languages. Once perfected, we’ll release this improvement to every Mentessa user!

This means that once you have entered a term in the search bar - for example “Leadership”, you will also get results from all types of content in your community, such as:

  • User profiles, who have “leadership” or related terms in their skills and profile descriptions such as “management”, “guidance”, “coaching”, etc.

  • News or videos in the community that have  “leadership” or semantically related terms even if they were published in a different language (e.g. if your company language is Spanish and if “leadership” or a semantically similar term has been used in profile descriptions or articles in Spanish across your community, the search will show those as well - even if the results are in a different language than your original query)
