The self-matching feature is an individual, on-demand ability for peer-to-peer matching, which is complementary to our algorithm-based, automated matching options:
- Ritual-based matches (networking & culture building)
- As well as our survey-based match suggestions (available e.g. in our skills matching ritual)
Mentessa’s self-matching feature enables employees to request collaboration with any other person in the organization quickly, easily, and as per their needs.
The ability for flexibly initiating informal collaboration is important because oftentimes people simply know best what they need and with whom they want to be matched. It provides a valuable opportunity for independent feedback and personal development. Self-matching also supports users with keeping up to speed in a rapidly changing world where problems need to be addressed more urgently. This feature can be used flexibly and according to one’s own needs on top of an admin-managed program for learning, but also between different initiatives.
How does it work?
Manually self-matching consists of two steps:
- Requesting a match
Employee A searches for the right person in Mentessa’s built-in skills marketplace, filter by advanced criteria, and identify available potential partners for any kind of collaboration (e.g. mentoring, feedback, code review).
From the extended profile of the selected person, Employee A can request collaboration with one click through “Request Match” on the top right of the profile view. Before confirming the request, employee A is prompted to provide details about their expectations (e.g. mentoring, feedback, brainstorming). - Accepting or declining the request:
The request triggers an email to Employee B who can accept or decline with one click. Accepting the match request will trigger a notification mail for Employee A, and a collaboration board for the matched users is created for tracking goals and tasks.
